  1. Privacy legislation

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act).  The Privacy Act together with other legislation including the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data BreachesAct 2017 (Cth) and the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth) regulate across the Infinet Group business the collection, use, disclosure and management of your personal information as well as your rights concerning that information.

We may modify this Privacy Statement from time to time.

  1. Collection of your personal information

We usually collect limited personal information from you or your representative in addition to any information that you chose to disclose to us.  We will use the information for purposes that are related or incidental to our supply of services to you and otherwise as set out in this Privacy Statement.

We sometimes collect personal information from a third party or from a public source but only if you consent to this or would reasonably expect us to do so.

The information that we collect may include your name, telephone, email and other contact particulars;  credit card details;  and your user name and password to access parts of our website.  If you choose not to provide your personal information we may not be able to supply our services to you.

We will collect your information when we communicate with you whether personally, by telephone or by other electronic means including email.  We also collect your information when you interact with our website, for example, when you use any on-line contact functionality, participate in any on-line blog, subscribe to our newsletters or other information that we may provide to you.

Your information may be used by us to contact you, confirm your identity, supply our services, invoice them and make credit checks including if you establish an account with us.  If we provide marketing material to you including in relation to our services and to better understand your needs in relation to the services to be supplied to you, if you subscribe to our newsletters or other subscriber lists, you can unsubscribe from them by using the relevant option that will appear in that material.

As applicable, we will disclose your personal information to our service providers who are involved in supply of our services to you; when we share your information with them we endeavour to ensure that they use the information solely for the purpose of supply of the services to you and that they keep your information protected and secure.

We may also need to disclose your personal information to overseas recipients (for example, the supplier of goods or services that you order from us.

 

We will also disclose your personal information (as applicable) to credit providers, government, regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies and other third parties including when disclosure will prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to a person’s life or health and when as a result of a data breach unauthorised access to or use of your personal information would cause harm to you or a third person.

Otherwise, we do not give personal information to anyone unless you consent or would reasonably expect or know that we need to provide your information to a third party in relation to our services.

We use secure technical environments for your electronically stored information and have policies and procedures in place that permit only our employees and contractors who have a ‘need to know’ to access and use your personal information whether it is stored electronically or otherwise.

Despite our best efforts to keep your information confidential and secure, transmission of information over the internet may not be completely safe and secure.  In addition, we cannot control your information that is collected and stored by third parties.

When it is no longer required, we will destroy or delete your personal information in secure manner.
